This is designed to be mounted in your roof using a standard sheet metal flashing and waterproof caulking so that the center of it is at the roof top level and the rain hat that has louvres is above the flashing.

The unit has 5 wires inside the throat that exit at the bottom - one is ground (green), one is AC power (black), one is AC power return (white), one is 10 VDC from the motor (red) and one is the speed control voltage back to the motor (orange).

Motor input power is 300 watts. At the bottom of the fan assembly is a gravity damper that prevents air from flowing down when the fan is off.
