Here are the facts about plexiglass and safety glass - 1/4 inch thick plexiglass is harder to break than 5 millimeter thick safety glass. Plexiglass is a thermoplastic material that is known for its strength and durability. It is about 17 times stronger than glass of the same thickness.
Safety glass is typically made by laminating two pieces of glass together with a layer of plastic in between. This makes the glass more difficult to break, but it is still not as strong as plexiglass. The term "safety glass" simply means that when it breaks it shatters into safer small pieces.

This kit comes with 8 plexiglass windows that are each 1/4 inch thick and 12 inches high by 16 inches wide to fit most garage doors. Each window has 4 holes - one in each corner - for mounting screws. Also included are 32 8-32 rivet nuts and screws.
THE FRAME YOU SEE IS PAINTED ON THE PLEXIGLASS BY YOU - this saves you a lot of money and it makes the installation easier.
This kit is for doors that are thin (one sided) or thick (two sided with foam inside). In both cases the window mounts outside the outside surface.
The installation includes these steps.
1. Cut holes in the door at each location that are 10 inches high by 14 inches wide.
2. USING THE PLEXI AS A TEMPLATE, MARK LOCATIONS AND drill holes at each corner and install the rivet nuts.
3. Paint the edge of the plexiglass the color you want for the frame.
4. Put a bead of caulking around the hole in the door about 1/2 inch outside of the hole so that it will be hidden by your painted frame.
5. Place each plexi window in place and use the screws to hold in place.
