Book "Inside the Mind of an Inventor"
Kurt Shafer here to offer you a book like none you have ever seen. I wrote this for you to read about all the details behind my inventions. I start with the need that causes the thought - "how can I make a (fill in this blank) to do (fill in this blank) using materials and tools I can get easily (or tools you can make).
Please NOTE this is a digital book so no shipping cost.
This book starts with the idea I had while sitting on my surfboard in the ocean at Torrance beach in California in 1967. I thought about how surfboards are forced to glide in a straight line because of the fins under the tail of the board. I thought about my sailboat experience and about how the sail changes the acceleration of the boat when placed at various angles. I thought about how a fin could be flexible so it changes angles to add acceleration. All of that resulted in my inventing a flexible surfboard fin.
You will see all about that along with detailed pictures of my prototype.
Later I bought a dune buggy and my family moved into a home with a 2 car garage and no outside parking. There was no option but to park the buggy on some side street or rent a storage unit. Until I noticed that the garage had a higher ceiling than most and there was room above my sedan to fit the buggy if I made a shelf. You can see the rest in my book.
Below is the cover and below that is the table of contents. Note there is a section showing an actual patent application and another section telling all about Thomas Edison's rules for inventing.
